EU Cookie Compliance - Demo Page

This is just a simple demo page to explain and demonstrate my EU cookie compliance solution.

How does it work?

When you first visit this page you will see an alert banner across the top of the screen. The alert provides a link to more information, i.e. a page that explains which kind of cookies are set and why; The content of the cookie information page can be seen here.

When the visitor is satisfied that they have been informed about the cookie usage, they can click on the close button at the right-hand side of the alert bar. Once they click the close button they will not see the alert again when using that computer

What's included in the solution?

I will perform the following tasks:

Perform a cookie audit of your website in order to determine which kinds of cookies it sets.
Create and publish a cookie information page based on the results of the earlier audit
Integrate the alert system with your website and link to your new cookie information page.
Test the alert system on your website on different browsers (Internet Explorer 8 & 9 and the current versions of Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera).

Why would I need this?

A new EU law regarding cookies came into force in the UK on the 26^th of May 2012. Basically if your operation is based in the EU and your website uses cookies, then you must make efforts to inform your vistors and seek at least "implied consent".
